
About Marissa Welshman
Marissa Welshman is a seasoned real estate lawyer with a comprehensive legal background in residential and commercial transactions, and property disputes. Called to the Ontario Bar in 2018, Marissa brings over seven years of experience advising clients across a broad range of real estate matters, including purchases, sales, leasing, and title issues.
Marissa’s legal practice is informed by her in-depth knowledge of the Ontario Municipal Act, Planning Act, Expropriations Act, and other key legislative frameworks governing real estate and land use. She regularly advises developers, investors, homeowners, and institutional clients on due diligence, acquisition strategy, and regulatory compliance. Her experience also includes representing clients before the Landlord and Tenant Board and negotiating complex contractual agreements.
Prior to joining the firm, Marissa worked in both private practice and in-house legal roles, including at IMAX Corporation and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, where she handled matters involving property rights, accommodations, and statutory interpretation. She is recognized for her meticulous attention to detail, strategic insight, and practical, client-focused approach.
Marissa holds a Juris Doctor from Queen Mary University of London and a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of Waterloo. She is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario and the Ontario Bar Association’s Real Property Section.
Outside of her legal work, Marissa enjoys staying active and trying new local restaurants.
